The Saylor-Beall VT-730-120 pairs the company’s cast-iron 705 pump with a 3-horsepower motor and a 120-gallon vertical ASME-rated tank, delivering 11.1 CFM at 175 PSI. The pump turns at roughly 540 RPM, which is unusually slow by comparison to modern light-duty compressors and is a deliberate design choice that extends pump life and reduces oil consumption. The two-stage layout uses splash lubrication, a centrifugal unloader for loadless starting, and a totally enclosed belt guard. Standard electrical configurations include single-phase 208-230V and three-phase 200-230V or 460V, with magnetic starter typically included from the factory. The unit is built in St. Johns, Michigan, and ships with the same 705 pump used across the rest of the VT-730 tank-mounted family, so service and rebuild parts are interchangeable. Recommended oil is 30-weight non-detergent, changed every 500 hours. The 120-gallon receiver gives more recovery time than the 60- or 80-gallon variants, which suits intermittent high-demand work in small machine shops or larger garages.
