AC 55

Mattei AC 55 is a 75 HP (55 kW) single-stage rotary sliding-vane air compressor producing approximately 252 ACFM at 116 PSI on a direct-drive package running at 1,500 rpm. The Mattei sliding-vane design is fundamentally different from screw compressors: a slotted rotor in an offset cylinder uses oil-lubricated vanes that slide outward against the cylinder wall, creating compression cells that shrink as the rotor turns. The result is an exceptionally low-rpm machine (1,500 vs 3,000-7,000 for screws) with no metal-on-metal contact in the compression chamber, leading to a 100,000-hour design life on the airend versus typical 40,000-60,000 for screws. Mattei has refined this architecture continuously since 1958 from Vimodrone, Italy. The package includes the Maestro XS controller, integrated aftercooler, electronic auto-drain, and Mattei Rotorlube fluid. Sound is approximately 65 dBA, lower than most screws in this size class.
