Hatlapa W110 is a two-stage air-cooled marine starting-air reciprocating compressor producing approximately 24 SCFM at 435 PSI (30 bar) working pressure on a 22 HP electric drive, designed for shipboard installation as a main-engine or auxiliary-engine starting compressor. Hatlapa (now part of MacGregor / Cargotec, Germany) has manufactured marine compressors continuously since the 1920s and the W-series is the longest-running marine starting-air platform in production. Construction is heavy cast-iron with a cast-iron crankcase, finned cylinders for direct air cooling, an intercooler between stages, and an aftercooler with separator. Marine-class approvals from ABS, DNV-GL, Lloyd’s Register, BV, RINA, KR, and NK are standard. Service intervals are designed around shipyard cycles: 4,000 hours typical for valve inspection, 8,000-10,000 for piston rings, with full overhauls at 20,000-30,000 hours. Best fit is small-to-medium commercial vessels, fishing boats, OSVs, and harbor craft requiring 30 bar starting air for diesel engine starts. Hatlapa W series ranges from W30 through W350.
