R-15-Simplex

Champion R-15-Simplex (sold as HR5-8 horizontal or VR5-8 vertical) is a 5 HP two-stage splash-lubricated piston compressor with the cast-iron R-15B pump running at 737 RPM and an 80-gallon ASME tank. Output is 17.0 CFM at 175 PSI, with 21.0 CFM at 125 PSI and 21.6 CFM at 80 PSI. Available in 230V single-phase, 208/230V three-phase, and 460V three-phase configurations. Champion’s calling card on this platform is the centrifugal unloader for loadless start, the gasket-free head design that eliminates head-gasket failures, and tapered roller bearings on the crankshaft. Pump RPM is roughly half what a comparable Quincy or IR runs at the same horsepower – this is intentional and correlates with longer life and quieter operation. Best fit is an industrial maintenance shop, a single-bay paint operation, or a small commercial shop that wants high-end build quality and a 5-year pump warranty. Premium kit extends the warranty to 6 years. Made in the USA at Champion’s Princeton, Illinois plant.
