Howden WRV 204 is a 250 HP (186 kW) single-stage oil-flooded twin-screw process-gas compressor producing approximately 1,240 SCFM at 200 PSI discharge, designed for industrial and refinery process service with a wide range of gases including natural gas, refinery fuel gas, flare gas recovery, and chemical-process intermediates. Howden (the long-standing Scottish manufacturer, now part of Chart Industries) has manufactured the WRV series for decades and the 204 frame is the workhorse for medium process-gas duty. The architecture differs significantly from air compressors: heavy-duty bearings rated for varied gas-density loading, gas-tight shaft seals (typically dry-gas seals or oil-buffer seals), API 619 compliance for refinery service, and complete material specification flexibility for sour or wet-gas duty. The standard package includes an oil separator vessel sized for the gas, an aftercooler, the Howden process-control package, and seal-gas / barrier-gas systems as required. Best fit is a refinery flare-gas recovery skid, gas-processing plant fuel-gas booster, or chemical plant process-gas duty.
